Arm Lift or Brachioplasty
What is Brachioplasty or an Arm Lift?
Brachioplasty, also known as arm lift, is a procedure designed to contour the upper arm region. Although Brachioplasty is often done in conjunction with other body contouring procedures, it is also frequently done by itself to improve the appearance of upper arms.
During arm lift surgery, different incisions are tailored specifically to treat your personal areas of concern. These incisions are hidden in the armpit or along the inside of the arm.
Am I a Good Candidate for an Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)?
Liposuction alone can provide good improvement to the appearance if upper arms if the patient has good skin tone and only fat excess. If there is significant skin laxity or sagging that frequently occurs with massive weight loss or aging, liposuction alone may not provide sufficient improvement, so Brachioplasty surgery would be recommended.
If you have loose hanging skin and excess fat in the upper arms that has not responded to weight loss and/or exercise, you are a good candidate for an Arm Lift.
What Should I Expect With Arm Lift Surgery?
Arm lifts are usually performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis, but you may need an overnight stay in the hospital if you combine Brachioplasty with other body contouring procedures.
After the procedure, compression garments are recommended to help reduce the swelling and help with the healing. Light activity may be resumed the day after the surgery. Heavy lifting and exercise should be avoided for 4-6 weeks. Your doctor will discuss pain management with you during your consultation.
