Breast Augmentation Surgery

A "breast augmentation" is also known as a breast enhancement.

Breast augmentation plastic surgery generally includes breast implants, and is sometimes combined with a breast lift. However, some women only require implants to obtain their desired breast size and shape.

The reasons our patients come to us for breast surgery are as unique as they are.  So if any of the below sound like you...well, let's just say, you're not alone!

Top Reasons for a Breast Augmentation

You've never had your "dream girls" and you're now ready and able to make them happen.

You had your "dream girls," you lost them, and you'd love it if someone could bring them back, plz + thx.

You would like to fill out your dresses, swimsuits, and shirts. FINALLY.

You want to buy a bra in a size that doesn't start with a letter at the very beginning of the alphabet.

You've always wanted bigger breasts; it's just not that complicated.

You want your push-up bra to have something in it to actually push up.

You simply know that a breast augmentation will make you look and feel more like "YOU".

The Right Reasons to Consider Breast Augmentation Surgery and Implants

1. Because it makes you happy and it's what you want.

You can love your body, and love who you are, while still looking down and thinking: "Okay, Girls --it's time for a change."

Surgically altering your breasts is a big decision, and should be viewed as an investment in yourself, for yourself. And while it's a big decision, it can also be one of the most empowering choices you ever make.

Breast Augmentation & Implant Surgery Considerations

This primarily comes down to breast implants' material, size, and placement.

What's important to remember, as you begin your surgical journey, is that most of these decisions will be made jointly with your doctor, based on your needs and preferences. You don't have to get it all figured out on your own. That's what your consult is for, and once you get to know Dr. Abboushi and Dr. Singh, you'll understand why thousands of patients trust them.

Saline vs. Silicone Breast Implants

In general, silicone implants are more popular than saline, and they tend to longer-lasting. However, saline implants require smaller incisions, and therefore, result in smaller scars.

Under-the-Muscle (sub-muscular) vs. Over-the-Muscle (sub-glandular) Breast Implant Placement

This gives our patients  the benefits of both sub-muscular and sub=glandular breast implant placement via a single, streamlined technique. However, there are circumstances when only over- or only under-the-muscle implants will be appropriate. Our doctors will spend as much time as needed with you to ensure your comfort with whatever decision is made.

Breast Implant Size

However, our surgeons will advise you regarding which size or sizes will best complement and enhance your body's shape in order to get the results you want. In general, we do not place breast implants that are far out of proportion to the rest of our patients' bodies.

Candidates for Breast Implants and Augmentations

There aren't many rules, but the ones that exist are important.

For instance, good candidates for breast augmentations are in excellent physical health and expect to maintain a (relatively) stable body weight. But it's not just physical health that matters. Emotional health is just as important.

You should already be generally happy with and secure about who you are before considering any type of elective plastic surgery. At its core, breast augmentation should feel like an investment in a "you" that's already pretty amazing. Because you are!

Breast Augmentation Surgical Procedure + Recovery

Breast augmentation is performed under general anesthesia, in one of our partner hospitals. The length of the procedure is generally between 1 – 2 hours, after which you will spend several hours in recovery before being discharged that evening.

There are a few non-negotiables regarding recovery that you should know prior to schedling surgery:

  • You must have someone drive you home post-surgery; it is not an option to drive yourself.
  • You will be given a compression bra to assist in the healing process after surgery which you must wear as directed by Dr. Abboushi or Dr. Singh -- usually 24/7 for one month, but this can vary.
  • You must take your meds as directed and explained to you during your pre-surgical appointment at our Inman Park office. We will call them in at least 3 days prior to your breast augmentation, so pick them up early and get it checked off your list.

Recovery times can vary a bit, but, in general, we recommend that most patients plan to take approximately one week off post-breast enhancement sugery.

Cost of Breast Augmentation + Implant Surgery

The cost of breast augmentation surgery starts at approximately $7000 with saline implants, and $8000 with silicone implants. Pricing is inclusive of all pre- and post-operative care, as well as hospital fees.

These averages do not include the cost of a breast lift or mastopexy, which is a separate procedure, although it can be, and often is, performed at the same time. A combined breast lift with augmentation starts at $10,500 with saline implants, and $11500 with silicone implants. Please note that these are only average costs and pricing is truly dependent upon examination by our doctors.

There are a number of patient financing options available for those who wish to explore these payment alternatives. These include plans from CareCredit, Alphaeon and United Medical Credit.
