How Voluma Works

Juvederm Voluma® is a hyaluronic acid filler that uses naturally occurring hyaluronic acid in the body to smooth out lines and wrinkles. By utilizing sugars that are naturally found in the body, Voluma® adds natural-looking volume to the skin, while providing long-lasting results.

Voluma® is mixed with lidocaine, which ensures the procedure will be virtually painless. After the numbing has taken effect, our injection specialist will use a small needle to inject Voluma® into the specified treatment area. It is common for the specialist to pause in between injections to make sure the lidocaine has a chance to take effect. They will also gently massage the area to ensure the proper distribution of Voluma® as well as the preferred contouring and shape. The entire procedure takes less than 30 minutes, and patients can return to their usual activities immediately following treatment.
