The possibilities of treatment options for our patients have expanded enormously. Our fabulous medical esthetician is thrilled to begin treating you with skin rejuvenation, Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) , laser hair removal, etc. Everyone’s skin is unique. It is so important to find the right regimen for you! Grace offers thorough, personalized consultations to determine your goals and the best course of action for your skin type. She loves getting creative with treatment plans to maximize results, and we love watching her do it.

One of Grace’s favorite newly offered services is IPL. It can be used to minimize the appearance or remove:

  • freckles
  • birthmarks
  • age spots
  • sun damage
  • rosacea
  • blood vessels on the face

How IPL differs from laser treatment?

IPL differs from laser treatment as it transmits more than one wavelength onto the skin, penetrating deeper. IPL can penetrate down to the second layer of skin, the dermis, without harming the first layer, the epidermis. Multiple treatments may be needed for best results, anywhere from 3 to 6. The procedures should be spaced out about a month apart, allowing your skin time to heal in between procedures. Our medical aesthetician will decide on a treatment plan that best suits your skin’s needs.

Two weeks before your treatment, you should avoid the following:

  • tanning beds and direct sunlight
  • chemical peels
  • waxing
  • injections
  • drugs that could increase your risk of bleeding (aspirin and ibuprofen)
  • creams that contain vitamin A

What can I expect during an IPL treatment?

During the procedure, protective eyewear is worn by the patient. The area is cleaned with alcohol, and then a cooling, protective gel is applied. Few patients experience mild discomfort during the procedure, but it subsides very quickly. Some describe it as little rubber band pops.

After the procedure, you may experience some redness and swelling. This is completely normal. In some cases, blistering and bruising can occur. It is best to avoid sun exposure for the following days until your skin feels like it is healed.

We offer package pricing for IPL, which is better for your skin AND your wallet. We would love to schedule you for a consultation and come up with the best skincare game plan for you! Along with a daily routine of personalized products and regimens, IPL can take your skin to the next level. We can’t wait to get started on your skin’s journey!
