Body Lift Plastic Surgery
A body lift is a series of surgical procedures that reshape and excise excess skin and fat for patients who have experienced dramatic weight loss or have laxity due to aging.
If you have had weight loss surgery or achieved successful weight loss from any other method of diet/exercise, you may be a candidate for a body lift once your weight has stabilized for at least 6 months. Panacea Plastic Surgery will work closely with your weight loss team to make sure that your nutrition is optimized prior to your surgery.
The Body Lift Procedure
Body lift procedures can include Abdominoplasty (tummy tuck), Panniculectomy, which is performed by a simple wedge excision, buttock lift, thigh lift, arm lift (brachioplasty), breast lift (mastopexy), chest wall reduction, male breast reduction for gynecomastia, facelift, and neck lift. These surgeries may be combined or performed in stages to maximize outcomes and ensure safety.
After dramatic weight loss, body lift procedures are typically performed to improve a patient’s overall look. Still, they may also be done to correct specific chronic areas of concern, such as upper arms, which may result from genetic predisposition or aging.
Body Lift Recovery
Body lift surgeries are performed under general anesthesia and usually require an overnight hospital stay. After surgery, you will be required to wear compression garments to reduce the swelling and help shape the different areas. Recovery depends on the extent of your procedure and your personal ability to heal. Light activity may be resumed the day after your surgery. Exercise and heavy lifting should be avoided for 4-6 weeks. Your doctor will discuss pain management with you during your consultation.

After losing 120 lbs, I had a lot of extra skin. Dr. Singh came to me as a referral and I can’t thank that person enough! The experience with Panacea has been nothing short of amazing. I have been to both locations and the staff has always been so kind and I always look forward to my visits.
Great experiences! Friendly atmosphere, staff very friendly and professional, Dr. Aboushi gave me what I wanted/needed. He is highly skilled, professional and I loved the results immediately.
Great experience and amazing results!
Panacea Plastic Surgery changed my life! After losing nearly 300lbs. my skin was loose in many placed on my body. I had alot more energy after losing the weight, but with the hanging skin it made it difficult to be active. I was also limited to wearing clothing that would hide the unsightly skin. After Dr. Singh worked her "MAGIC," my life has changed. I recently got married. The surgeries I received have given me the self esteem I never had before. I am now more active than I have ever been able to be. I can now wear the appropriate clothes for the seasons. It has been 4 years since my last surgery and my life has been enhanced dramatically since first meeting with Dr. Singh. I will be forever grateful to her for giving me my life back!

Body Lift FAQ
Is a body lift painful?
Body lift surgery does not hurt because general anesthesia is used to increase comfort. However, patients may feel pain throughout recovery. Our practice provides a detailed list of directions to minimize pain so individuals are able to rest and recover completely from surgery. We could also provide pain medicine if necessary.
How bad is scarring from a body lift?
Cuts will be sealed with stitches immediately after the procedure. Although the healing process of scar tissue differs for each patient, Dr. Abboushi has developed various techniques to reduce their look and development. These involve placing cuts in spots that can be simply covered. Many people feel that the slimming outcomes well outweigh any scarring potential.
Can insurance cover a body lift?
Medical coverage can cover a percentage of the body lift when declared medically necessary. However, individuals should predict some out-of-pocket expenses for the procedure itself and healing. Our team in Atlanta, GA is always up front about cost and will review expenses in detail during the initial appointment. We also offer straightforward payment options.
