Thigh Lift Surgery (Thighplasty)
A thigh lift, also called a thighplasty, involves removing excess skin and fat to give the patient a more contoured appearance on the upper leg. Many individuals seeking this type of procedure have lost a lot of weight, and the skin quality is such that it has become loose or saggy.
Reasons for a Thigh Lift
In these situations, the skin fails to retract and tighten as it would normally, and the individual is left with excess skin that does not match the proportions of the leg after weight loss. Ultimately, the loose skin “hides” the normal contours of the leg, and the patient is left with the appearance of saggy skin around the thigh area. Most of our patients have tried very hard to lose excess weight and become healthier, which has a host of medical benefits. However, they have realized that the need for a thigh lift has moved beyond their ability to deal with or treat the excess skin with diet or exercise.
Some people might confuse a thigh lift with liposuction, but the real difference is that a thigh lift is concerned with improving the overall aesthetics of the thigh, which includes everything like the fat, skin, and the thigh’s shape. Because our board-certified plastic surgeons at Panacea Plastic Surgery tailor each surgery to the patient’s individual need, they might suggest a combination of liposuction and thighplasty to help you reach your personal goals.
Candidates for Thigh Lift
You could possibly be a good candidate for a thigh lift if you meet some criteria. First, we would like to make sure you are close to your ideal weight and that your weight has been relatively stable for a little while. A thigh lift will not be a good option if you plan on losing more weight. Secondly, you good be a candidate if you are a healthy individual that doesn’t have any medical conditions or activities that could impair the healing process. Smoking is a prime example of such activities. Lastly, you might be the right candidate if you plan on maintaining your healthy lifestyle after the surgery. A thigh lift will help contour the leg and bring it into proportion with your current body weight. However, future weight gain and severe weight fluctuations could cause more skin laxity or sagginess in the future. As always, the best way to find out if you are a good candidate for a thigh lift is to schedule your consultation with either Dr. Singh or Dr. Abboushi.

Thigh Lift FAQ
How much does thigh lift surgery cost?
There are many factors that can go into the final cost for your thigh lift, including how much work there is to do and which techniques are used to create the look you want. After creating your treatment plan, we’ll talk with you about costs. Panacea Plastic Surgery accepts a number of payment options, and we may be able to help you find low-interest medical financing to make your thigh lift more affordable.
Will a thigh lift remove cellulite or stretch marks?
Thigh lift surgery is the best way to achieve nicely contoured and slimmer legs. By tightening the skin and eliminating stubborn fat deposits, we may be able to improve the visibility of cellulite and stretch marks around the upper legs. If those are a concern for you, let us know during your consultation so we can explore your options with you.
How long will my results last?
Assuming you maintain a healthy lifestyle that includes diet and exercise, you should enjoy the results of your thigh lift for a long time. We recommend that patients be at or near their ideal weight prior to their surgery, as any future changes could impact your results. During your consultation, we'll discuss what you can do to keep your thigh lift results for as long as possible.
Can I combine a thigh lift with other surgeries?
Some patients pair a thigh lift with a butt lift or tummy tuck to create a lower body lift. Thighplasties are also a common part of a mommy makeover or after weight loss surgery. During your consultation at Panacea Plastic Surgery, talk to your surgeon about all your concerns and goals so they can create a treatment plan that gives you the results you want.
Consultation – The first step of a Thigh Lift procedure
Both of our board-certified plastic surgeons have years of experience in body contouring surgeries like thigh lifts. When you decide to schedule your consultation, you will get an opportunity to discuss your goals with one of our board-certified plastic surgeons. Either Dr. Sing or Dr. Abboushi, will sit and explain whether a thigh lift procedure will yield desirable results or not. During this consultation, our surgeons will also assess your skin quality, noting everything from the degree of skin laxity to thigh contour. This will help our surgeons to determine whether you are a suitable candidate for this cosmetic surgery. The best thing about this one-to-one consultation with an expert plastic surgeon is that you will have ample time to discuss all the questions and concerns you have regarding this procedure.
What to expect during a Thigh Lift surgery?
Thighplasty is an outpatient procedure; however, general anesthesia is administered for the comfort and safety of patients. Incisions are made on specific points where your doctor wants to remove the skin and fat. Our board-certified plastic surgeons are trained at placing incisions in less apparent places during the surgery as to not make the scar noticeable afterward.
The size of each incision depends on the amount of skin and fat, which needs to be cut off from the thigh. Once the surgeon has removed the excess skin, the surgeon tightens the skin and coves the underlying muscles to improve the contour. Overall enhancement of the thigh is the ultimate aim of a thigh lift surgery, and your surgeon can make multiple incisions to get the desired results.
Recovering From Thigh Lift Procedure
A thigh lift is typically performed in an outpatient setting under general anesthesia. You may need to stay overnight if combined with procedures like a tummy tuck. Following the surgery, our team will provide you with a compression garment to help reduce swelling. Your recovery time will vary based on the extent of your procedure. Your doctor will discuss pain management during your consultation.
