Tummy Tuck Surgery (Abdominoplasty)
Abdominoplasty, also called a tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure used to improve the abdominal contour by removing excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen and tightening the abdominal muscles. Both Dr. Singh and Dr. Abboushi -- two of Atlanta's best plastic surgeons -- have many years of experience performing this surgery.
Who is a Good Candidate for a Tummy Tuck?
Good candidates for abdominoplasty include those who have experienced significant weight loss or women who have stretched muscles resulting from pregnancy and weight fluctuations. Anyone who has stretched stomach muscles and cannot achieve the look they desire through diet and exercise is a good candidate for a tummy tuck.
Tummy tucks are frequently performed as part of a mommy makeover post-pregnancy. A mommy makeover typically includes a combination of breast procedures and liposuction.
Panacea Plastic Surgery Reviews
Went in for a consultation in July and got a tummy tuck September, performed by Dr. Abboushi. I’ll start by saying Dr. Abboushi is very conservative and practices with your overall health as his number one concern! As a 44 year old diabetic I truly appreciated his approach. At 3 months post op I am extremely pleased with my results thus far, and the ENTIRE staff (special shout out to Brooke and Amber) were absolutely perfect. I’d recommend Panacea to my own family and friends-

A year ago I had the opportunity to have a virtual appointment with Dr. Singh of Panacea Surgery. Her personalized treatment and professionalism made all the difference and made made my decision in scheduling a tummy tuck plus. Following her recommendations in travel from Puerto Rico 🇵🇷 made feel very confident especially on how the warmth of the staff and how they make you feel at home. 6 months ago I had the surgery with excellent results. I feel happy, I feel more confident and I feel beautiful. I went to my follow-up appointment and everything is perfect. Thank you, Dr. Singh for all the attention and care, and especially thank you to all the staff and team that supported me through this process. 💯recommended!

Types of Tummy Tucks (Abdominoplasties)
Standard Tummy Tuck
A standard tummy tuck is completed via a single horizontal incision across the lower abdomen from hip to hip bone. It is placed in an area hidden beneath most underwear and bathing suits.
This procedure can significantly benefit men and women with significant sagging, loose skin, associated stretch marks, and laxity in the abdominal wall muscles. Abdominoplasties can also be combined with liposuction to achieve a better shape and contour of the abdomen. The abdominal muscles are tightened through the same incision. Monsplasty is another common procedure, often combined with a tummy tuck, for those wishing to remove excess skin or fat around the mons pubis, sometimes colloquially referred to as a fupa.
High BMI Abdominoplasty
A High BMI Abdominoplasty is an abdominoplasty performed on patients who fall into the overweight or obese BMI categories, and it can be life-changing. Dr. Singh and Dr. Abboushi consider their patients’ surgical goals, health, and anatomy and tailor the procedure to the individual rather than using any specific BMI number as a limit.
Extended Tummy Tuck
A standard tummy tuck only addresses the front of the abdomen in the stomach area, with an incision that runs from hipbone to hipbone. Extended tummy tucks, as the name implies, extend farther around the sides. This helps to address excess skin in the flank area, leading to a more contoured waistline.
A fleur-de-lis tummy tuck is another version of an extended abdominoplasty most commonly performed on individuals who have experienced massive weight loss, often due to gastric bypass surgery. A vertical incision is made at the abdominal midline that extends from the horizontal incision as far up as the lower area of the breast bone.
Each of these tummy tucks tightens the abdominal muscles by bringing them back together at the midline (in the center).
Mini Tummy Tuck
A mini-tummy tuck with a shorter, more limited scar may be sufficient to treat a smaller, central tummy bulge below the navel.
Tummy Tuck FAQ
How much does a tummy tuck cost?
During your consultation, your surgeon will develop your unique surgical plan based on your unique concerns and goals before discussing costs. They will be better able to estimate your costs after establishing which approach to take for your abdominoplasty. If you're concerned about expenses, we welcome you to talk to our friendly administrators about financing options.
What type of tummy tuck should I get?
You will probably get one of the three most common techniques for tummy tucks: full, mini, and extended. In your consultation, your surgeon will listen to your needs and goals before performing a physical exam. Then, we can help you decide which tummy tuck will produce your best results. A full abdominoplasty is good if you want to address issues in both the upper and lower abdomen, whereas a mini tummy tuck is better if you only have issues under your belly button, like a "pooch." An extended tummy tuck is designed to improve the stomach plus your upper thighs and hips.
What will my scars look like?
The incisions needed for your abdominoplasty will vary based on which type you are getting. For all tummy tucks, our surgeons strive to make the smallest incisions possible to minimize scars. They also makes incisions in less visible areas (through the belly button or in the public region) so they may be concealed by a swimsuit or underwear. After your surgery, it is important to follow your scar care instructions so your incisions heal flat and blend into your natural skin.
Can I get pregnant after a tummy tuck?
Although you may still get pregnant after a tummy tuck, it will alter your results. We strongly encourage that you be finished with planned pregnancies and childbirth before you get a tummy tuck. If you do become pregnant following a tummy tuck, a second surgery may be done to refresh your stomach.
Can I get a tummy tuck with another surgery?
A lot of patients combine a second cosmetic surgery with a tummy tuck to give them more dramatic improvements. During your initial tummy tuck consultation at Panacea Plastic Surgery, talk to your surgeon about your concerns so a comprehensive surgical plan can be created to match your goals. If you want to rejuvenate your whole body after having children or losing a significant amount of weight, you may be a good candidate for after weight loss surgery or a mommy makeover.
Tummy Tuck Recovery
Abdominoplasty is performed under general anesthesia. While you may choose to spend the night at the hospital, most patients find they prefer to recover in the comfort of their own home.
After the surgery, compression garments are recommended to help with healing and to reduce swelling. Small drainage tubes may be present. You may resume light activity the day after the surgery. Exercise and heavy lifting should be limited for 4-6 weeks. Your doctor will discuss pain management with you during your consultation.
What Does a Tummy Tuck Cost?
A tummy tuck generally costs about $11,000, including all pre- and post-surgical care, hospital fees, and follow-up appointments. However, as with any plastic surgery procedure, abdominoplasty pricing is very much dependent on patients' individual needs and goals. Therefore, a consultation with our doctors is the only way to know the procedure's cost. Many financing options for plastic surgery procedures are available, including those from CareCredit, Alphaeon, and United Medical Credit.
