Liposuction in Atlanta

Liposuction Surgery & Surgical Procedures

Liposuction surgery slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits via small incisions in the area to be treated. This improves body contours and proportions.

Liposuction surgical procedures are performed in an outpatient setting with mild sedation (if treating small areas) or under general anesthesia. If combined with other procedures, an overnight stay may be necessary.

Candidates for Liposuction

Good candidates for liposuction have specific areas of excess fat that are difficult to lose even after weight loss and with regular exercise. These areas can include many areas of the body such as the abdomen, the flanks (love handles), buttocks, thighs, knees, arms, and neck. It can also be used to treat gynecomastia (enlarged breasts) in men.

Do the Doctors Offer Lipo 360?

Yes, both Dr. Abboushi & Dr. Singh perform lipo 360 -- also known as circumferential liposuction -- procedures for patients who wish to address multiple areas around their midsection at the same time. This can include waist, flanks, stomach & back. Many patients who elect liposuction 360 surgery also choose to undergo a tummy tuck, circumferential abdominoplasty or an extended tummy tuck to maximize their results.

Is Large-Volume Liposuction Available?

Yes, high-volume and large-volume lipo, also called "hourglass liposuction" or "high BMI liposuction," are available. In general, this means removing 5 or more liters of fat at one time. This is sometimes referred to as "mega liposuction," "extreme liposuction" or "aggressive liposuction." However, our doctors do not use these terms as they will never perform any type of surgery that isn't safe for the patient, and that terminology implies a degree of risk with which they would not be comfortable.

There is no set BMI limit for overweight patients who wish to undergo these procedures; however, you must be in excellent physical health and receive medical clearance from your primary care physician prior to undergoing surgery.

Some patients who elect to receive large-volume liposuction also choose to undergo a plus-size tummy tuck or abdominoplasty (colloquially called an "hourglass tummy tuck." Dr. Singh and Dr. Abboushi will discuss your options with you during your consultation.

Liposuction Recovery

After the procedure, compression garments are recommended to help with healing and to reduce swelling. You may return to work one or two days following the procedure. Bruising often takes several weeks to resolve. Depending on the area treated, it is not unusual for it to take several months for all swelling to recede and for full results to be revealed.

Cost of Liposuction

Liposuction is usually priced per area based on its size, although procedures like Lipo 360 (circumferential liposuction) may be priced together.

The cost of liposuction varies depending on the size of the area being treated, as well as the volume of fat being removed. Small areas of standard liposuction start at $2500+ with extra large areas beginning at about $6500+.

Large-/ high-volume liposuction has a similar cost scale but generally starts at a higher price as more fat will need to be removed even if the area is "small," such as the inner knee.

Lipo 360 surgery usually combines upper and lower abdomen, waist, back and flanks, which may be as many as 7 areas in total. However, as this surgery is usually performed all at the same time, the final price can be less than the total if completed separately.

Please note that these plastic surgery costs are starting points and do not include hospital fees, which can run between $2000-$3500.
