How Do I Get Rid Of Excess Skin After Weight Loss?

7/26/2017

Options for Removing Excess Skin

While losing large amounts of weight and body fat is a thing worth celebrating, the excessive skin that is left behind is not. Whether you have excess skin on your arms, thighs, stomach, breasts, or other areas of your body, this stretched-out skin can be uncomfortable and unpleasant. Fortunately, there are many procedures that can be performed to get rid of excess skin after weight loss.

Arm Lift

Brachioplasty, also known as arm lift, is a plastic surgery procedure that is designed to remove excess skin from the arms while contouring them. During arm lift surgery, small incisions are made in specific areas to address your concerns, and most of the time these can be hidden inside the armpit or along the inside of the arm for minimal scars.

Buttock Lift

A buttock lift surgery oftentimes includes a variety of procedures to the gluteal area, depending on your specific needs and areas of concern. Some of the procedures that may be performed during a buttock lift are liposuction, fat injection, buttock implants, and removal of excess skin.

Thigh Lift

A thigh lift surgery may also include a variety of procedures, depending on the extent of your needs and goals. The most typical procedures performed during a thigh lift are liposuction and direct excision to remove the excess skin. Liposuction can be performed through multiple small incisions, which leave minimal signs of scarring. Direct excision can be performed through small incisions that are easily hidden within the creases of the thigh and groin.

Abdominoplasty

Abdominoplasty , also called a tummy tuck, is a surgical procedure that is designed to remove excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen while at the same time tighten the abdominal muscles. The incision for a tummy tuck is typically made from one hipbone to the other and is hidden underneath the underwear or bikini line. Tummy tucks can also be used in conjunction with liposuction to ensure optimal results and a contoured shape.

Breast Lift

A breast lift is often performed with a breast augmentation to restore the volume and shape of the breast while ensuring the best nipple position. Depending on your needs and aesthetic goals, an implant may also be added during this procedure. During a breast lift, the excess skin is removed through small incisions around the areola and from the areola to the breast crease. The breasts are reshaped and the nipple is restored to the most optimal position.
