Liposuction Vs CoolSculpting: Which Is Best?

Stubborn Areas of Fat
Are you frustrated by stubborn pockets of fat that won’t go away? You are not alone, many people who exercise regularly and eat right still struggle with areas of fat on their body that they simply cannot lose. Luckily, there are both surgical and non-surgical options that can help you achieve your goals.
Liposuction and CoolSculpting can both successfully reduce unwanted fat on your body. Sounds great, right? But how do you know which treatment option is best for you and your body? The best way to make this decision is to first truly understand both procedures and the results that they produce, then find the best plastic surgeon to get the job done!
CoolSculpting
CoolSculpting is a non-surgical, non-invasive option for body contouring that has been growing in popularity since 2010. FDA-cleared for the treatment of permanent fat reduction, the procedure treats multiple areas, such as the abdomen, flanks, bra roll, chin, back of the arms, inner/outer thighs, and more. It’s safe and effective, with minimal downtime. During the procedure, gel pads are placed over the target area to protect the skin. The CoolSculpting applicator is then applied to the treatment area. Over a period of 35 minutes to 75 minutes (the treatment time per area depends on the applicator being used), the fat is destroyed with a patented freezing technology without harming any surrounding tissue.
Over the course of 2-3 months, the body eliminates the terminated cells naturally, via the lymphatic system. There is no downtime associated with this procedure; patients can return to normal activities right away. The treatment time will vary, depending on the areas being treated. Total treatments needed will vary as well, depending on desired results. Most patients require multiple treatments, spaced about a month apart. On average, you will reduce the treated volume by 20% – 40% per session. During your consultation at Panacea Plastic Surgery, we will work with you to create a treatment plan that’s perfectly customized for your body.
The results of CoolSculpting are very noticeable and you do not have to worry about the risk of a larger, more invasive surgery. During your consultation at Panacea Plastic Surgery, your doctor will work with you to create a treatment plan. If you are looking for more dramatic results, then Liposuction may be the better treatment option.
Liposuction
Liposuction has been one of the top cosmetic surgery procedures for many years. The procedure has evolved with technological advancements, producing amazing results. This procedure effectively reduces the appearance of fat in many areas of the body, including the abdomen, flanks, back, buttocks, knees, neck/chin, arms, and both the inner and outer thighs
Liposuction is a more invasive surgical treatment to reduce fat, providing more dramatic results than CoolSculpting. Typically, the surgery is done under general anesthesia. During the procedure, small incisions are made around the treatment area, and tiny tubes, called cannulas, are inserted. The cannula is used to break down and remove the excess fat. Once the fat is removed, the area of your body treated can be reshaped.
You are an ideal candidate for Liposuction if you have good skin elasticity, are generally healthy, and have realistic expectations. The results of Liposuction are dramatic, leaving your body sculpted and contoured. However, an important thing to consider with Liposuction is that it includes recovery and downtime.
Unlike CoolSculpting, where you can leave the treatment and return to your daily activities, you’ll need to prepare for a day of surgery and recovery. After the procedure, you will need to wear compression garments to help with healing and reduce swelling. Most patients can return to work after a day or two, but bruising can take a week or more to fade. Keep in mind that your recovery will depend on the specifics of your procedure and that optimal results will be seen after swelling has subsided.
