Freeze Away Stubborn Fat: Everything You Need to Know for CoolMonth

It’s finally warming up in Atlanta, which means we’re planning rooftop pool days, booking

Airbnbs on the beach in Florida, and organizing deep sea fishing trips in Key West. We’re also

finding time to shop for new summer clothes and swimsuits so we can look our best for a

much-needed and long-anticipated summer vacation.

But trying on swimsuits can be frustrating — and this year feels no different. Nothing seems to fit

just right at the waist. There’s that stubborn fat on your lower abdomen, flanks, or back that

refuses to go away despite your best efforts with diet and exercise.

If these areas have always bothered you, and you’ve been wanting to try something — anything

— to finally achieve that flat abdomen or more contoured silhouette, this is the best time to start.

CoolMonth has begun, and it’s the biggest CoolSculpting® offer ever launched — $400 off for all

new CoolSculpting patients! Stop thinking about how much you dislike that stubborn pocket of

fat and instead, freeze it off!

The Science Behind CoolSculpting

CoolSculpting® is clinically proven and FDA-cleared for permanent fat reduction. This incredible

technology has its roots in a simple but fascinating medical discovery.

In 1970, pediatrician Ervin H. Epstein, Jr., M.D. noticed that an infant who had eaten a popsicle

developed a red, firm nodule on their cheek — which eventually led to localized fat loss in the

same area. This phenomenon was later named popsicle panniculitis (inflammation of fat). A

similar effect was observed in the outer thighs of equestrians exposed to intense cold over time.

These insights sparked curiosity — and by 1999, research and development had officially

begun. Scientists learned that lipid-rich fat cells (adipocytes) are more sensitive to cold than

surrounding water-dense tissues. This discovery made it possible to precisely target pockets of

fat and induce adipocyte necrosis (fat cell death) without damaging the skin or nearby

structures.

How CoolSculpting Works

CoolSculpting is one of the most advanced and intelligent devices used in aesthetic medicine

today and the first FDA cleared device for permanent fat reduction. Through continuous tissue

monitoring and thermal contact reading, the system safely cools targeted tissue to –11°C or

-13°C for 35 to 75 minutes, depending on the treatment area and applicator.

After assessing your area of concern and selecting the properly sized applicator, the cooling cup

gently pulls the skin and fat into place using vacuum suction. This ensures complete and even

contact with the cooling plates. Throughout treatment, CoolSculpting technology continuously

measures tissue conditions and adjusts in real time. If the tissue cools too quickly, the machine

immediately shuts off to prevent harm.

Over the course of the cooling cycle, circulation to the treated area temporarily slows, and the

targeted adipocytes crystallize and freeze. Once the cycle completes, your body contouring

specialist performs a thorough post-treatment massage. This rapid rewarming helps break down

any remaining fat cells, reinforcing the process of apoptosis — or programmed cell death.

Your body’s lymphatic system then takes over, naturally processing and eliminating these dead

fat cells as waste. Staying active with regular movement and maintaining good nutrition helps

support this process, which typically takes up to 8 weeks per treatment cycle. Studies show that

during this phase, cholesterol levels remain unaffected, as the fat waste does not pass through

the liver or bloodstream.

What Areas Can Be Treated

CoolSculpting can safely and effectively treat nine distinct areas, including:

the submentum (under the chin), upper arms, bra line, flanks, abdomen, outer thighs, inner

thighs, below the buttocks (also called the “banana roll”), and the medial knee.

Through this cutting-edge process, we can reduce up to 25% of subcutaneous fat in a treated

area — perfect for patients who struggle with small, stubborn pockets of fat that resist diet and

exercise.

Your Personalized CoolSculpting Plan

Every body is different, and so is every treatment plan. At Panacea, your journey starts with a

personalized body contouring assessment with our CoolSculpting specialist. Together, we’ll

define your aesthetic goals and design a treatment timeline tailored to your body’s needs.

This consultation allows us to create a unique “map” to selectively target and remove up to 25%

of fat in each treated area. Most plans include 2–4 sessions, performed within 150 days, to first

“debulk” the volume and then refine and contour for optimal aesthetic results.

At Panacea Plastic Surgery and Med Spa, we use the same high-level evaluation process our

plastic surgeons use to plan liposuction — considering both area and volume to achieve the

most balanced outcome. With the combined expertise of Dr. Singh and Dr. Abboushi in surgical

body contouring, and Lily, our aesthetician and laser practitioner, delivering non-invasive results,

you can expect exceptional care from start to finish.
