How Long Is The Recovery From Liposuction?

11/14/2017

Liposuction Recovery

Liposuction  slims and reshapes specific areas of the body by removing excess fat deposits, improving your body contours, proportion, and ultimately, enhancing your self-image. As with any procedure, it is important to prepare for recovery and downtime after liposuction.

Recovery time is influenced by the size and location of the treatment area. However, most people are back on their feet after a week or two.

During the first few days to a week after your liposuction procedure, you will experience soreness and swelling. A compression garment or elastic bandages may cover treatment areas to control swelling and compress the skin to your new body contours. In addition, small temporary drains may be placed in existing incisions beneath the skin to remove any excess blood or fluid. You will need to monitor your treatment area for infection and attend any follow-up visits with your surgeon to ensure the area is healing.

After about three weeks, your incision will heal, and you may return to light exercise as recommended by your surgeon. You will begin to notice visible results at around four weeks, though more prominent results can be noticed around the three-month mark.
