How Much Does Plastic Surgery Cost?

7/8/2022

For patients considering plastic surgery, the most common question our doctors are asked is:

“How much will my plastic surgery will cost?”

What Factors Impact the Cost of Plastic Surgery?

There are many factors that can affect the cost of plastic surgery. It’s important to keep in mind the following when reviewing pricing to ensure that the quotes being evaluated are truly comparable:

  • Plastic surgery prices can vary widely from city to city and state to state. For instance, breast implant surgery that costs $5,000 in Omaha, NB, may cost $15,000+ in Manhattan. Similarly, as an Atlanta plastic surgery practice located in Inman Park, our pricing is based on the costs of caring for our patients and performing their surgeries in the Atlanta area. While this is likely less than in NYC, it is probably more than in Omaha.
  • Costs differ from place to place due to the cost of living, but also because hospitals charge more for operating rooms, anesthesiologists charge more for their time, nurses are more expensive to employ, and medical supplies can be more expensive in those areas as well. This means surgeons’ fees must then be higher, too, to cover that cost difference.
  • Surgery performed in a freestanding clinic is generally cheaper than that carried out in an accredited hospital. However, our doctors do not perform surgery in freestanding surgical clinics as it is impossible to provide the level of care to which they believe their patients are entitled. This is especially true in an emergency situation. Dr. Abboushi’s and Dr. Singh’s first priority is their patients’ health and safety, and the bottom line is that while most clinics are safe, hospitals are safer.
  • Many cosmetic surgery procedures can be performed by medical doctors who are not plastic surgeons. In fact, they don’t have to be surgeons at all, let alone board-certified practitioners. These doctors often charge less for their services, while also performing surgery in freestanding clinics, further decreasing the cost. Both Dr. Singh and Dr. Abboushi are board-certified and have undergone years of additional, specialized surgical training in order to obtain that certification.

The Cost of Plastic Surgery: Other Considerations

Undergoing more than one surgery at a time, when our doctors have approved this option and declared it to be safe for a patient’s individual situation, can sometimes decrease costs. This is because certain fees that would normally need to be paid for each surgery when performed separately then only have to be paid once. For instance, it’s not uncommon for our doctors to perform multiple surgeries on the same day if patients are medically cleared to have them completed together.

Additionally, Panacea is unique in that both of our surgeons work together on every surgery they perform, with the exception of labiaplasties (Dr. Singh, only), blepharoplasties (Dr. Abboushi, only), and ear lobe repairs (both perform, but separately). This means that the vast majority of their patients have not just one, but two board-certified plastic surgeons in the operating room with them on the day of their surgery, providing them with far more value than is offered by most surgical practices.

Dr. Kimberly Singh & Dr. Nour Abboushi, Board Certified Plastic Surgeons & Founders of PanaceaGiven that plastic and cosmetic surgery is a major investment in both time and money, it’s completely understandable that patients would want to know exactly how much various procedures cost, even before they schedule a consult. As It can be very difficult to get this information anywhere online, we are happy to make our price ranges available for planning purposes. And, for those interested, multiple patient financing options are available, as well. However, keep in mind that, as mentioned above, only an examination by our doctors can guarantee the cost of any surgery Panacea offers, including surgeon fees and hospital fees.

Consultations are available virtually or in-person. Dr. Singh and Dr. Abboushi truly want their patients to have all of the information necessary in order to make the decision that best meets their surgical needs and goals.
