What Is Lipo 360 (Circumferential) Liposuction?
3/10/2022
Lipo 360 is a liposuction procedure that removes fat in order to contour the area around the stomach, waist, flanks and back — 360 degrees. Since this area encircles the entire midsection, it was eventually nicknamed “lipo 360.” While it may sound like a special surgical technique, at its core, it’s simply liposuction surgery meant to address multiple “problem” areas at once. Each 360 liposuction procedure is customized specifically for the patient who is receiving the treatment.
Are there any differences between lipo 360 and circumferential liposuction?
There is no difference between 360 liposuction and circumferential lipo. They are interchangeable terms, but “circumferential lipo” is used by medical professionals, while “lipo 360” is the more casual name for the procedure.
Am I a good candidate for 360 liposuction?
Skin elasticity is a very important thing to consider when researching whether or not you’re a good candidate for lipo 360 on its own. Circumferential liposuction can have incredible results for the right candidate, but for those who already have loose skin or whose skin doesn’t easily bounce back after weight loss or the birth of a child, 360 liposuction may not be the right choice, at least on its own without complementary plastic surgery procedures like a tummy tuck .
Will lipo 360 tighten my loose or sagging skin?
Liposuction of any kind, including circumferential lipo, cannot tighten skin. Whenever there is already loose skin present, liposuction is unlikely to contour the area effectively. And if a large volume of fat needs to be removed, without excellent skin elasticity, the desired contour may not be possible unless combined with other surgeries.
What other plastic surgery procedures should I consider along with 360 lipo if I have loose skin?
There are a number of different plastic surgery procedures that can address areas of sagging skin via excision (removal), ultimately leading to the best possible surgical results. These include:
- Standard abdominoplasty
- High BMI Abdominoplasties
- Extended tummy tucks
- Circumferential abdominoplasty
- Back lift
Can I qualify for lipo 360 if I am overweight or plus-sized, and have a high BMI?
Yes! Our doctors do not have a BMI “limit” that qualifies or disqualifies plus-size patients for circumferential liposuction. The most important factors for any high-BMI plus-sized plastic surgery procedure are:
- Excellent physical and emotional health
- Being a non-smoker
- A stable body weight
- Not pregnant or planning to become pregnant
- Having medical clearance from your primary care provider
Patients who fall into the “overweight” or “obese” BMI categories generally require large-volume liposuction to get the results they want. Dr. Abboushi and Dr. Singh both perform large-volume lipo, consulting closely with their patients to understand exactly what their goals are and what results they can expect when choosing circumferential liposuction.
